We Believe Mental Health Matters!
Gwyn Washington
Clinical Intern
“I am a Life Coach based in Houston, Texas. I am a graduate of the University of Houston with a Bachelor’s in Business and Psychology, and I am currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Grand Canyon University. I am passionate about working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and demographics, including pre-teens, teens, adults at all life stages, families, and couples. My primary areas of focus include supporting those struggling with depression, anxiety, and trauma, while helping individuals resolve conflicts and develop assertive communication skills.
In my work with clients, I draw on my strengths in problem-solving, empathy, and motivational listening. I strive to provide warm, nurturing support, grounded in respect and unconditional acceptance. I am also focused on continuing to develop my skills in treatment planning, crisis intervention, and mental health diagnosis.
I believe my role is to help clients find their own perfect solutions. I prefer to avoid using labels or generalities, and instead approach each person with sincere curiosity, allowing each client to define themselves for me. The therapeutic approaches I favor include Person-Centered Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) for trauma.
I’m excited to continue growing in this field and to help others on their journeys toward healing and self-improvement and look forward to learning more under the supervision of Xochil Hinshaw, LPC-S.”
